Blessings
are a celebration, a time of reflection, a
door opening to a new future.
Blessings
for couples,( both male female, and same
sex.) at the North
Forest
Shingon
Temple
involve a
service of ancient mantras, and if requested
an ancient healing ceremony as well.
Before
the ceremony the couple are taken to a
beautiful and peaceful place in the forest
of dean where they can walk or sit and
discuss their relationship.
A
time to stop and reflect on what has been,
and on those things that may need healing,
perhaps forgiving, or those great times that
are for celebrating. During this time in the
forest the couple will each choose a stick.
When returning to the temple, the sticks
will be tied together by the Buddhist priest
during the ceremony, signifying a coming
together with a fresh understanding. The
couple may if they so wish supply vows for
the priest to include in the ceremony.
A
gathering of friends, relatives may be
present, and celebration with food and
drinks afterward can be arranged. Although
the ancient ceremony is set, the other
components of the day can be arranged as the
couple wish.
