To become a priest you need to
go through a ceremony called, 'Tokudo' this is
done through the head priest of a Temple but only
when the Sensei's master agrees. In our Temple our Sensei
Master is Eimei Kawakami who resides in Japan and visits,
at present, once a year to give Tokodo and visit
our temple. The cost of Tokudo in the Mitcheldean
Temple by Senseie Eimei Kawakami is £250, however we can organise a very
special Tokudo with Tenjo sensei & his Master Eimie Kawakami
Sensei in his Temple in
Japan and the estimated cost would be £1000 this
would include flight, stay, food, ceremony, robes,
beads, kesa and exploration of Japan.
You will need to buy your own
black robe, we have a person within the temple who
makes these specially and the cost at present is
£100.
To be a priest of the temple
does not allow you to have a temple of your own,
only when you reach purple robes are you given
that honour. Most priests can do services,
however, they must ask permission from Tenjo
sensei before any public activity of this
sort.
