Counselling
Tenjo was
trained as a counsellor by A.C.A.D. Advice and
counselling on Alcohol and drugs. This was an
agency working in
Bristol
,
Bath
and north east
Somerset
.
.A.C.A.D.
Coordinated over ninety counsellors, working
across a wide range of issues. Tenjo
worked as a counsellor, giving over 1000
hours of supervised counselling to people of all
walks of life, from teen age to late seventies.
He went on to deliver drugs education in
primary and secondary schools, as well as working
in pupil referral units and youth clubs. When a
new mobile needle exchange was initiated Tenjo was
sent for training at the Bristol Drugs Project (B.D.P.)
and went on to coordinate it’s delivery into
south
Bristol
, Hartcliffe
and Withywood.
Tenjo spent
time working with homeless people on the streets
of Bristol as
an outreach worker, going on to deliver drugs
information and education to Probationary
services, as well as churches and some social
services.
During this
time it was found that there was a great need for
counselling, for those families, carers and other
people, especially the young, affected by the
issues surrounding the person involved in Alcohol
and or Drugs misuse.
This
led to valuable training in such things as:
Couples counselling
Family
counselling
Working
with young people
Child
protection
Dual
diagnosis (alcohol, drugs, and mental health
issues)
Motivational
interviewing
Brief
solutions focused therapy
Recovery
etc.
As a Buddhist
priest Tenjo has learned a great deal of Eastern
methods, of working with people, who maybe
suffering a wide range of issues. Combined with
previously mentioned skills above, this has given
Tenjo very
much to offer, those finding themselves in need of
help.
Tenjo is
currently working full time on an acute mental
health ward, in a Mental Hospital in
Gloucester
, as part of his Compassion in action, Buddhist
practice. Delivering relaxation sessions, in some
cases as a replacement to mood calming drugs
Counselling is usually given
for a donation toward temple costs, however
although the temple has to be funded, to keep up
with financial issues, and pay it’s bills, the
Temple has a policy of compassion in action. We
feel strongly, that as part of our Buddhist
practice, we must be working with the suffering
that many people are finding themselves having to
deal with. We have a great variety of skills to
offer, and for those who are struggling
financially, or cannot access counselling and or
advice because of funding. We offer free services.
Please Email us for more information.
We look
forward to a time when we will be able to increase
the amount of free services we can deliver to
those in need.
