My Comments

Summer;

Phew! and its so hot, and how people smile its lovely to see. I have had new deshi to train and this time is always a good time for me to reflect on what they ask and how they do. As we are all teachers, we never stop and think about what we teach, however, its often because the teaching is for the recipient and not for us to understand.

My recent deshi asked, "what can I do should I do lots of meditation? should I etc etc. As she knew and understood exoteric teachings it was natural to do what she knew, however, if you were going to a new world which you knew nothing, how would you know what to take that would be of any use? Sometimes it can be useful to enter a new change or a new situation by leaving all you know behind.

Enjoy your summer but look forward to the autumn with an empty head, you may be surprised at what you see for the first time.

Tenka sensei

Hello, my name is Tenka it means 'Flower of Heaven' As Tenjo is our head priest all names from his temple will start with 'Ten' as this is heaven his name means 'radiates heaven' for those of you who feel heaven is a Christian term, from our point of view it is just a place of compassion and peace a place in the heart of Dainichi Nyorai, a place in the universe.

I follow  the teachings Tenjo gives me and my other priests, as he has received these direct from his Sensei in Japan. The Shingon I practice is esoteric and this fits well with how I view life and the world around me. I love the garden to be able to just sit in it. This gives me a sense of watching this world carry on its daily activities knowing that everything is of the same matter.

I work as a Counsellor and here I find my compassion is on full power, what ever the circumstance. To be aware of using empathy, understanding and above all compassion is great training for me as a priest, it not only helps others and keeps a good practice as a therapist it reminds me of the world of suffering we all live in and how one persons suffering may be another's gratification.
